British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Tragic Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on Monday, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
Joshua had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.
A Tribute to the Fallen
Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”
His release from the hospital arrives after the sports world offered sympathy for the star in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
