FC Barcelona to Host First Match at Upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday
Barça revealed their first game will take place at the still-under-construction Camp Nou on Saturday. The club will host the Bilbao team in La Liga two and a half years following their departure so building work could begin.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity but 45,401 spectators will be allowed to watch as per the current authorization. Once fully finished, it will accommodate over 104,000 attendees, up from the previous 99,000. The club said finished work included a new players’ tunnel plus modern locker rooms.
Preparatory Events
Barça organized a public practice on the home pitch in early November. Officials stated they are seeking authorization by UEFA to play their next home Champions League game versus the German side on 9 December at the stadium. They have been hosting matches at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
