Reports indicate that beloved actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their iconic roles in the newest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.

An Important Reunion for Fans

Lawrence and Hutcherson will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. Speculation suggests their appearance will probably be featured in a flash-forward sequence, given that the main film series concluded with their characters married and with children.

This marks the sixth film in the highly successful Hunger Games franchise.

Delving Into the Prequel

Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a 2025 novel by series creator Suzanne Collins. It serves as the follow-up prequel after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed most of the previous films in the series.

The Storyline and Fresh Faces

The film's story are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is featured as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.

The cast also includes several notable actors in key parts:

• Jesse Plemons will portray Plutarch Heavensbee.
• Ralph Fiennes will appear as a younger version of the menacing President Snow.

What the Stars Are Doing Now & The Film's Schedule

Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence has been nominated for a Golden Globe for the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson recently appeared in the hit horror film Five Nights at Freddy's 2.

Regarding the shoot:

2. Filming reportedly wrapped in November of the same year.
